The first of the Summer's Activity Days(for primary school aged children) was a resounding success!
Sixteen children spent most of their day exploring the stream and pond in the Park, and after a tractor and trailer ride, finished their day painting with mud and sticks!
Beautiful countryside, water and mud... all the ingredients for a fun day out!
The children walked from nursery, through the village and into the Park. After setting up our temporary HQ for the day under a shady tree the children started their exploring.
Our most interesting finds came from the stream, where we found lots of freshwater shrimps and interesting larvae. We used our reference books to look them up and found out what the larvae would turn into.
25 ducks were hidden near our HQ and the children really enjoyed searching for them, then personalising them with stickers and permanent markers.
Then it was on your marks, get set, go ..... four heats of duck racing before the big final!
A picnic lunch in the shade of a tree, but we found we needed our reference book to find out what the bug was that had it's eye on the children's sandwiches!
The tractor and trailer as our transport down the hill, always great fun!
Finally mud painting in Forest School - we all had a great day!
