This week we are having 2 pyjama days and the children have been baking(and parents - many thanks!) to sell their wares all week, to raise money for the registered charity Potter's Village (Charity number 1126101.

It is part of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum to 'help children to learn positive attitudes and challenge negative attitudes and stereotypes'. Ellie, one of our members of staff, lived in Uganda for 6 months in 2011. She has been able to display photographs of her time there and talk to the children at Grasshoppers about the Ugandan children and their families who she helped there (www.pottersvillage.org.uk). 
This makes the issue of diversity much more real and personal to the children here, a really good foundation for their learning in the area of 'Understanding the World:People and Communities'.
