What a busy, Christmassy day!

On Thursday 6th December the children enjoyed not one, but two Christmas outings! A tractor and trailer ride to choose a Christmas tree for nursery and  watching the school's Christmas production.

From the moment they arrived we could tell that Farmer Jake and Derek were really entering into the spirit of the trip! The children always love their tractor and trailer rides, so when the road works in the village meant a longer journey, no one was complaining! When we got to the 'plantation' Farmer Jake showed us the baby trees which have been most recently planted...

...and the children were able to have a close look for themselves.

They were far too polite to tell him that these trees were not really what they expected and then very happy to be led to the bigger trees by Derek! After a good look round the children chose their tree and Derek sawed it down for us there and then! Then we accompanied our tree back to the tractor for the exciting return journey to nursery.

Thanks so much Jake and Derek.

Back at nursery there was no time for tree decorating, just enough time to eat lunch before walking to the village hall

to watch Overbury C of E First School's  production of 'The Snow Queen'.

We were lucky enough to have front row seats. The nursery children sat transfixed throughout, referring to the programme, spotting friends from Breakfast and After school club and relatives and marvelling at the scene changes, costumes and make up.

The finale was a song about a snowman and Arthur just couldn't believe he was seeing a real snowman - "Look he even walks!" he said with real  excitement.

Thank you to the very talented cast and to the teachers who made the wonderful performance possible...and invited us to share it!
