Sports Day 17th September

After having to postpone our Sports Day in the Summer due to some very un-British  hot weather, we worried that we might have  to postpone for a second time when we saw that rain was forecast. But the rain held off and a good time was had by three generations!

The children had been practising for lots of different races; running, jumping, , obstacle, egg and spoon and backwards races. They could perhaps use a little more practise with the relay race, everyone ran at the same time and nobody wanted to relinquish the bean bag baton!

The children were all very good sports, clapping and cheering for their friends, everyone earning  a special certificate to take home.

But when it was  the Mums' turn to take part, Carolyn had  to remind some of those taking part that only one hand was to be used in their egg and spoon race!

Not as many competitors in the Dad's egg and spoon race - just 2 in fact- one Dad and one Granddad. Depending on whose story you believe, it was either a case of much more sportsmanlike behaviour from the men than the cheating ladies - Archie's Dad claims he couldn't whiz past a Granddad, or experience and care paying off - a real hare and tortoise story!!

Thanks to everyone - children, parents and grandparents for making it a great success. We are  so pleased to have finally held inaugural sports day (last year we were rained off too!).

It was such a success we hope to make it an annual event!
