There are a number of families of children at the nursery with Welsh backgrounds, and we were lucky enough to have one of the children's Dad come in to teach us some Welsh words as part of our St. David's Day celebrations.
The children did lots of art activities to create a very colourful St. David's Day display.
A big red dragon was painted in a sociable group activity.
Individual daffodils were made from egg boxes and the younger children enjoyed a walk around the village to look for real daffodils growing, and found lots in the church yard.
The children tried very hard with their Welsh pronunciation , just “hello, goodbye, please and thank you”. and some counting. We have had Welsh cakes and bara brith (kindly baked by one of the parents http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bara_brith) for snack this week.
We would particularly like to thank the family involved.
If any other parents have any special interests/activities they would like to share with us, we would love to have you come in and spend some time, just let us know.
