This week our nursery children have been immersing themselves in the much-loved story The Gruffalo’s Child, and it has inspired a wide range of exciting activities across the nursery.

This morning, we were delighted to welcome the children and staff from Overbury First School into the nursery for a festive visit. They brought plenty of Christmas cheer with them as they sang a selection of carols, before continuing on their way around the village.

On Monday, the children arrived in their cosy Christmas PJs and had a wonderful time joining in with a fun, festive PJ PE adventure delivered by Sprint Active.

This morning brought lots of excitement as the children climbed aboard the tractor and trailer for a special trip to the woods to choose our Christmas tree. When we arrived, we walked down the lane to where all the Christmas trees were growing.

Last week, the children made a special visit to the kitchen gardens to help Harry, our gardener, create a Poppy Cross to be displayed at the Church on Remembrance Sunday. They carefully chose leaves to stick on and arranged the poppies—it looked absolutely fantastic!

This week we have been reading the story 'The Bonfire Dance' by Christopher Stokes and taking part in lots of fun firework themed activities. 

We are are participating in the Real Bread Campaign's 'Bake Your Lawn'. We met Harry and Farmer Jake at the kitchen gardens where the soil had been finely tilled ready for the children to plant the wheat seeds.

The children have had lots of fun playing in the leaves after the wind blew them off of the trees.

The children have been milling their own whole grain flour today from wheat grown on the farm. 

The children have loved learning all about the coronation this week and we finished the week off by having a picnic lunch
