One of our favourite stories this month was Pirates Love Underpants. Inspired by the book, Faye sourced an amazing pirate ship for the children to enjoy, which was very kindly lent to us by the Rosado Lounge. The pirate ship quickly became the centre of countless adventures, with children eagerly climbing aboard, taking on the roles of brave pirates, and setting sail across imaginary oceans in search of hidden treasure. It was wonderful to see their creativity, teamwork, and storytelling skills develop as they embarked on their exciting journeys.
We also thoroughly enjoyed reading Commotion in the Ocean, which introduced the children to a variety of fascinating sea creatures. The story sparked lots of curiosity and discussion as we explored life beneath the waves. The children loved learning about different ocean animals, sharing facts they already knew, and talking about which sea creatures were their favourites. These conversations led to further learning opportunities through creative activities, sensory play, and ocean-themed games.
Another much-loved story was The Rainbow Fish. This beautiful tale encouraged meaningful conversations about friendship, kindness, and the importance of sharing with others. The children explored these themes through group activities and discussions, helping them to understand the value of being caring and considerate friends. To extend the learning even further, the children had great fun making their own rainbow fish-shaped pizza wraps for tea, combining creativity with practical life skills and, of course, enjoying a delicious treat afterwards!
Throughout the month, it has been wonderful to watch the children’s imaginations flourish through our themed activities. From pirate adventures and treasure hunts to underwater discoveries and creative crafts, every day has been filled with excitement, learning, and laughter. Our nursery is looking absolutely fantastic, with colourful underwater-themed artwork proudly displayed throughout the rooms, showcasing the children’s creativity and hard work.
