Rain, Rain, Rain!

Despite the recent wet weather, it hasn’t stopped us from heading outside to enjoy the fresh air! As an all weather nursery, we firmly believe there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing!

With their all-in-one suits zipped up, hoods up, and wellies on, our Dormice group were ready for adventure. The raindrops pitter-pattered on their sleeves as they stomped, splashed, and giggled their way around the garden, discovering puddles and the magic of a rainy day.

The Squirrels group decided to make the most of the rain by turning it into a wonderful learning opportunity.  The children explored the concept of capacity by pouring and filling water into a variety of different-sized containers, comparing which held more or less. As they investigated, they used and discussed key vocabulary such as full and empty.

To extend their learning even further, the children worked together to make a rain gauge. Over the next few days, they will be observing and measuring how much rainwater it collects. What a fantastic way to bring learning to life through real-life experiences!
