What an exciting week we’ve had at nursery! The children have been busy travelling around Europe, discovering different countries, exploring their cultures and traditions, getting creative, dancing, cooking and, of course, tasting some delicious food along the way!
Monday – Bonjour, France!
We began our European adventure in France. The children made their very own French flags and received their first passport stamp, ready for the adventures ahead.
The babies also transformed their role play area into a French bakery, where they pretended to serve and eat cakes and drink cups of tea and coffee.
At lunchtime, we enjoyed a real taste of France with Beef Bourguignon, served with mashed potatoes, broccoli and carrots. To finish, the children enjoyed a delicious Pot de Crème for pudding.
Tuesday – Ciao, Italy!
On Tuesday, we travelled to Italy! The children got creative making pasta mosaic Italian flags using pasta . They also added their Italian stamp to their passports.
We spent some time learning about where food comes from around the world, helping the children begin to understand how different foods are grown, produced and enjoyed in different countries.
For lunch, we enjoyed a delicious beef lasagne, served with garlic bread and corn on the cob, followed by gelato for pudding.
Wednesday – Opa! Greece!
Our next stop was Greece. We enjoyed lots of music and dancing, bringing some Greek culture into our day.
The children also had the opportunity to get involved in food preparation. Using our safety knives, they carefully chopped cucumber and helped make a generous amount of homemade tzatziki.
We also made our very own Greek flags to add to our growing collection and received another stamp in our passports.
For lunch, we enjoyed chicken gyros, including pitta bread, homemade chips, chicken and salad, along with the tzatziki we had made ourselves. We finished with some delicious homemade baklava for pudding.
Thursday – Hola, Spain!
On Thursday, we headed to Spain! The children added another stamp to their passports before getting involved in more dancing and creative activities.
Inspired by the beautiful Basilica of the Sagrada Família in Barcelona, the children created their own stained-glass window artwork, exploring colours, patterns and shapes.
Our Spanish-inspired lunch was a delicious chicken and bacon paella, followed by homemade churros for pudding. What a treat!
Friday – Home Sweet Home!
Finally, on Friday, we arrived back home and celebrated all things English! The children added their final stamp to their passports and completed our collection by making their final flag.
To finish our wonderful week of travelling, we enjoyed a traditional English afternoon tea.
Our final lunch of the week was a classic fish and chips, followed by a delicious slice of Victoria sponge for pudding.
