This week, we are continuing our learning on Remembrance Day and why it is celebrated. This morning, Sally brought in a soldiers tin hat from WW1 for the children to look at and explore. Some of the children were keen to try it on and commented on how heavy and cold it felt.
The children have been looking at photos of family members who are currently serving, or have previously served, in the armed forces, and we talked about the important work they do. We also watched a CBeebies animation to help the children begin to understand what life might have been like during the war.
In Hedgehogs, the children made their own interpretations of poppy wreaths, while in Squirrels, they used a variety of collage materials to decorate poppies. These beautiful creations will be displayed around the village, so when you’re next out for a walk, see how many you can spot!
Please find the link to the Remembrance Day animation here https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/watch/poppies if you’d like to watch it with your children at home.
